(A brief) biography

Phil studied Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sheffield, followed by a year as a Ph.D. researcher in Knowledge Management techniques.

This was followed by three years living & working in Paris as a professional web designer/developer where he nutured his interest in photography with several projects.

He left Paris in September 2009 to travel through the Middle East, living and studying in Damascus for two months, and spending a month documenting events in the West Bank.

Since April 2010, he has been based in Sudan, where he covered the first multi-party elections since 1986, as well as working for the press, NGOs and UNICEF on various projects. Khartoum is his current home.

He speaks English and French fluently.
